Artist Statement:
“Cacophony” is a vibrant collection of pattern-based woodcut prints that explores the dynamic relationships of color, form, and texture. The pieces in this series create a visual experience that is both chaotic and harmonious. The prints draw inspiration from a diverse array of historical designs and are woven together with botanical elements.
Through the meditative process of carving and printing woodcuts, I capture the energy and beauty of these motifs. By using the same group of woodblocks, and overlapping them in layers of color and design, I invite the viewer to delve into the complexity of each piece, discovering new details and connections. The use of woodblock printing allows for a tactile, hands-on approach, bringing a unique texture and dimension to the work that echoes the natural materials used in its creation.
Cacophony captures the essence of botanical beauty through a modern lens, finding order in disorder, and appreciating synchronicity.
