Artist Bio:
I never created much art as a child – unless you count the brown mural I smeared on my bedroom wall as an infant. Raised in rural Idaho, I was more interested in math and science than art, and I went on to study Computer Science at the University of Chicago. My lack of artistic interest started to change when I visited Splatter Charlotte with my improv team in 2023 and threw paint at a canvas. In 2024 I first dared to try painting myself, and quickly fell in love with it. I make art because it’s fun, and I’m often experimenting with new styles in pursuit of creating something beautiful.
Artist Statement:
Most of my art is fluid art, which is made by mixing acrylic paint with water or another fluid medium. Without using a paint brush, various other tools are useful in fluid art, such as plastic cups, a hairdryer, strings and a cake spinner. I like creating complexity and subtlety through fluid art which naturally emerges from fluid interactions.
