Diane Aka-Bashorun

September’s Featured Artist

Artist Bio-

Diane Aka-Bashorun is a self taught artist from the San Francisco Bay Area.  Art has become a way to live life more fully and embrace her curiosity beyond her career in the corporate world.  Diane creates art as a way to move through life.  It is simply a practice in the day to day of life.  The act of being inspired can slow down time and provide space for connection to all that is around us.   Diane believes that creating art has the power to alter the energy we carry, how we move, think, react, and experience life.

Art has expanded Diane’s view of the world and enhanced her way of moving through it.  Having moved to Charlotte in the recent years, Diane joined the Guild of Charlotte Artists and has exhibited her pieces in several seasonal shows as well as done pop ups at the Charlotte Convention Center for Girl Tribe.  Her pieces have also been featured at local boutiques in Cornelius, NC

Artist Statement

‘Life Poetic’ is a collection of original mixed media pieces that showcase a way to see things when living and experiencing life through the eyes of an artist.  Taking daily experiences and seeing things with fresh wonder, deep curiosity and heightened awareness.  Everything has energy, to honor that and to give it expression is the process taken here.  Expression through paint, through words, through feelings.  Stretching time and finding the aliveness in all that is.  This art collection is vibrant with color, done with watercolor, acrylic, pen and pencil.
